Nokia 2 is official with 4100 maH battery at 99 Euros

In a first, India has been staged as a platform for unveiling a smartphone for the world not only just India. At an event held in Gurugram, India HMD Global, the house of Nokia Phones pulled the wraps off the Nokia 2. They have not disclosed the official pricing of the phone for Indian market. Juho Sarvikas Chief Product Officer, HMD Global announced at a metro station where they held the event that the phone will be available starting Mid November worldwide at prices hovering around 99 Euros which translates to 7,500 INR approximately. It measures 143.5x71.3x9.3mm Looking at the spec sheet, the device is running on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 212 mobile platform which is an entry level LTE capable chip from the US based chip maker. An 8 Megapixel at the rear with LED flash and a 5 Megapixel at front will handle photography enthusiasm. Sony’s attempt to get back in lower mid-range segment.

Sony has been struggling the most to tap the smartphone market right and in yet another attempt they have tried to get under 15k segment which is by far the most crowded and difficult segment. It is heavily dominated by Chinese, South Korean Giant Samsung and now a little by Finnish comeback Nokia. So, has Xperia R1 (Rs. 12990) and R1 Plus (Rs. 14990) got what it takes? Let’s check out.


The design is the same signature (Boxy) Sony design which has started to show its age. The devices feel unmistakably Sony from any angle. They have a slim profile of 8 mm and weighs 150 grams as one would expect from Sony and should feel good in hand although as the edges are not curved, could dig deep in the palm with long usage. The screen to body ratio has never been Sony’s forte and this time is no different, the devices have unnecessarily huge bezels on top and bottom which make the devices look so 2015.
